    This hotel has some pros and cons. It’s in an older shophouse building, minimally renovated for certain amenities but leaving the structure and fittings mostly intact. So you still have the old style mosaic floors which has a nostalgic touch, but the layout - especially the bathroom - can be awkward. The amenities work and are adequate, but very basic. Small ergonomic touches can be improved; eg the kettle power cord is too short to use with any power outlet without propping up on something, and there are no convenient bedside tables. There is a water cooler on the 1st floor to refill drinking water. These don’t matter as much if you’re only staying overnight to go onward to the islands. The hotel is right in town and walkable to a laundromat and restaurants. The front desk staff are pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel is located on a main road of Mersing, which gets loud traffic late into the night. Additionally, though this is probably seasonal and not all the time, the apparel store opposite was playing patriotic songs during my stay as it is the run up to national day, but it loops over and over non-top for the whole day from morning to 10pm, which can interfere with rest if you intend to remain in the room during the day. (I’m not docking points for the hotel for this as it isn’t their fault; but noting it as relevant and so that they can show the shop that it affects their guests). All in all, it’s actually pretty decent for its price, with some caveats if you need a quiet or longer stay.
