    It was such a pleasant stay. Recommended for budget travelers to Matera!

    Very basic and not well managed hostel. If not the superb location this place would go bankrupt. No door for dorm room. Just a curtain. Common area and kitchen are 1.5 meter from the dorm room - try to sleep without a door when people are cooking and talking next to you. IMPOSSIBLE. One crazy Italian dude, that is obviously a little retarded - so he smokes in the entrance making the whole hostel stink of smoke. He did that 3 nights- the owner didn't kick him out! This for me shows a horrible management! I wouldn't even give 1 warning - would immediately kick him out after smoking inside the premises. This owner guy didn't kick him out after 3 times! Been there 4 nights - Not 1 day did anyone clean this place. Very dirty feel. Kitchen is very small, 2 people max can use together. But the place is for around 20 guests so cooking in high season is very difficult. But Matera is worth it all. Amazing city The owner sits all day plays his computer. Does nothing. Way too expensive for what they offer. If not the location in the old town - i would not recommend coming to this hostel.
