Moorville Hall Hotel

Cheap and functional - staff brilliant

We booked a family room in the main hotel. The room had a bath but no shower facilities and no view. This was not suitable as it was, so we asked at reception about shower options. The staff were extremely helpful and found us two rooms linked by an internal door both with showers in chalets behind the main building as an alternative. This proved to be a very suitable solution but we were fortunate that it was available at the time. The pub on site does excellent well cooked food at very reasonable prices. For a very small extra charge we could join the on site leisure club with well equiped gym and a warm and clean swimming pool. On-site parking is free so long as you enter your car reg into the system when checking in. The owners are in the process of refurbishing the hotel. At the moment some areas are in need of redecoration, including bedrooms. However we had comfortable and clean beds and enjoyed a good relaxing stay with the facilites which we needed and the most friendly and helpful staff. The swimming pool was a great feature. If you arrive with realistic expectations, you can enjoy a stay in a delightful historic Hotel full of character in a lovely location. Rooms are not yet modern and smart like a Travelodge but those don't have the character and charm of this Hotel or such lovely staff. The prices are fair, they aren't charging for a 5* resort. Rooms have tea and coffee and TVs. We would certainly choose this hotel again if we visit the area.

Arrived at check in time, reception was full of what i imagine was locals, all drunk and shouting. No one on reception, couldnt find a member of staff and the number on Google was wrong so left and booked into a travelodge instead. I would not recommend for familys at all, it all looked very run down.
