Mildom Premium

Although I booked, Mildom Premium, I we were allocated a room in Mildom Hotel, all located adjacent to each other and in the same street. The rooms were pretty neat and the house keeping staff will clean the rooms every day. However, one major drawback is that the hotel don't have a lift(Mildom hotel). And few of the amenities has wear and tear setup as Mildom hotel is the old one. The reception guys are super helpful and they even permitted me to get a parcel as I was not able to have the breakfast.

I stayed at Mildom Premium Hotel as a solo traveller and worked remotely during my stay. Overall, I had a comfortable experience and would happily stay here again. Breakfast is excellent One of the main reasons I chose Mildom Premium instead of Mildom Hotel was because breakfast is included. From what I understand, Mildom Hotel (Bogenbai Batyr St. 128) does not include breakfast, while Mildom Premium (Nazarbayev Str. 118) does (you just take the package with breakfast, price difference isn't too big but very very worth it, the food would be the nicest during your trip). Breakfast is served daily from 7am-11am at EZO Restaurant. Remember to collect your breakfast voucher from the reception every morning and tell them your room number. The breakfast selection was excellent, with lots of pastries, cakes, pies, breads, cheese, butter, ham, vegetables, fruits, coffee and milk. There are also hot dishes which change daily, such as eggs, pasta, risotto and other cooked dishes. The quality of the pastries and cakes was especially good. Location and finding the hotel Mildom Premium Hotel (Nazarbayev St. 118) and Mildom Hotel (Bogenbai Batyr Stre. 128) are located very close to each other in the same block. If you use inDrive, some drivers may stop at Mildom Hotel by mistake. Don't worry, Mildom Premium is only a few shops away and there are a couple of cafes between the two buildings. Main attractions such as Panfilov Park, Ascension Cathedral, Green Bazaar, Rakhat Chocolate Shop and museums are within walking distance. Room My room was comfortable and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and there was a large working desk, which was perfect for me as I worked remotely with my laptop and portable dual monitors. There is also a large wardrobe and a minibar fridge (items inside are chargeable). Housekeeping was reliable and I had no issues with my belongings. If you want the room cleaned, make sure not to leave the "Do Not Disturb" sign outside. Things to know There is no elevator, only stairs. Rooms are on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, so request a lower floor if you dislike climbing stairs. Reception is available 24 hours and staff speak English. Late check-out is possible, but I was informed that extending for a few hours costs half the daily room rate. (34,650 kazakhs tenge) I prepaid through Agoda ("Pay Now") and had no issues or additional charges upon arrival. Convenience stores and cafes nearby The nearest convenience store is CU Mart, a Korean convenience store located just behind the hotel (behind ZUGO). Another local grocery store, Dino's Market, is about 350 metres away. If you need a nice cafe to work from, I highly recommend AKKU Cafe, which is also about 350 metres away. It is spacious and has very good pastries and coffee. Tips for foreign travellers Google Maps works well, but many shop signs are in Russian or Kazakh, so finding places may be confusing initially. If you do not have a local SIM card, Yandex Go may be difficult to use. I used inDrive and paid drivers in cash because I did not have a local bank QR payment system. I brought USD cash and exchanged money in Almaty. The airport exchange rate was surprisingly close to the city rate, so changing some money at the airport can save time and hassle. Overall, a comfortable and good-value hotel with excellent breakfast, friendly staff and a convenient location. Recommended for solo travellers and remote workers.

Great location good value for money

The hotel is in a convenient location, and the staff were consistently helpful and courteous, particularly in assisting with luggage. That said, the overall stay fell well below acceptable standards. The room was extremely small, with space barely sufficient for the bed. There was no practical walking area, and opening luggage was difficult due to the lack of space. For a stay of five days, this quickly became uncomfortable. Breakfast was adequate but repetitive, with the same items served daily, which did not align with expectations for longer stays. The bathroom was notably problematic—very small, with a persistent unpleasant odor. The shower system did not allow proper temperature regulation; it was either hot or cold, which was especially uncomfortable during winter. A major concern was the absence of an elevator. Being assigned a room on the fourth floor made daily movement physically demanding. While staff assisted with carrying heavy luggage, this raises concerns both for guest comfort and for the long-term physical strain placed on staff members. Overall, despite the location and staff support, the limitations in room size, bathroom condition, basic amenities, and accessibility significantly impacted the stay. I would not recommend this hotel, particularly for longer stays, older guests, or anyone traveling with large luggage.
