    We stayed at this hotel for two days to visit family in the area. From the moment we checked in, the front desk staff was staring us down. We were a party of 4 but I had my niece (who was staying elsewhere) with us while I checked in. I hand over our 4 passports to the front desk agent while the children were sitting in a corner. The agent went out of her way to go around the corner and count how many guests I was with and question the number of people. I explained it was just my niece, but she continued to eye us down, and look at each other. Every time we passed the front desk, we were stared down. Even in the pool area we felt harassed. In addition, the guests that stay often in this property are very arrogant and unfriendly if your from a different country. The atmosphere was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We had previously stayed at the Pestana Carlton Resort which was wonderful but wanted to extend our stay. They were sold out so we booked Melia. In just the two days we stayed at Melia, we were continuously stared down, harassed by staff and a few guests, and made to feel like we didn’t belong in the island. It seems this hotel has reoccurring guests that are racist. If you come from a different country, I would be very careful staying here as it can ruin your vacation.
