Marvelous Hotel

The staff were the best. Always available to serve and accommodate every need and desire. Clean rooms, pool and restaurant area. I loved all the fresh fruits and veggies served at the breakfast buffet. When they noticed l drank coffee at breakfast, they brought out a filter coffee maker. I will come back to Marvelous Hotel every year.

Their website says 14+ years, their description on Google maps says 16+ years. There were definitely a couple of younger kids with their families by the pool. The beds are made in the local way with only a pique blanket and no top sheet. The pique blanket only goes to the top edges of the bed so if you are two people in the same bed you may be pulling the blanket off each other. We requested an additional sheet and they were very confused at this then tried to swap the one on the bed. There used to be 5 free shuttles to the beach, but there are now only 2 daily at 10:00 and 14:30. The shuttles return only at 12:00 and 17:30. Otherwise it's a 25 minute walk. The shuttle goes from a different nearby hotel and is shared with other hotels. When it's full it goes and comes back which adds another 15 minutes to the wait. You wear a wristband for the duration of your stay which gives you beach access and lounger at The One Club area. There are no towels there so you need to bring from the hotel. You're only allowed to swim in the pool between 10:00-19:00 which is apparently so guests can relax and sleep. But they play club music over a speaker until 10pm which seems nonsensical. This is really disappointing when the sun doesn't go down until 21:30 and it's very hot. Especially when you're the only ones there. 10:00 also seems late to be allowed to start swimming as the sun comes up at 6:00 and it's 30+°C Breakfast is 8:30-10:30 which will be too late for many travellers. A la carte is available through the rest of the day. I've uploaded the menu as original and translated through Google lens. We were the only ones dining at the hotel for dinner, and there are heaps of mosquitoes. It's not clear who you're supposed to order from as staff kind of float around without checking on you. The food is average. Recommend going elsewhere for dinner (we went to The Bliss restaurant on the second night and the food is amazing) The power went out the first morning, so there was no fresh coffee, and no toast and the selection was limited. The automatic doors weren't working so there were a lot of flies on the food. We found it strange that none of the staff mentioned the power outage but figured it must be common as a large generator was delivered during our stay. Breakfast the second day when the power was back up was great. Because of the power outage, my partner was using the ensuite with the door open as all lights were off and there's no natural light in the ensuite. I was by the pool. Housekeeping entered the room without knocking or announcing themselves! The hotel itself is new, but the owners and staff have a lot to learn if they want to cater to a Western clientele as well as local in my opinion.
