We stayed in the little town (which itself is surprisingly delapidated) to be close to the national park. We chose Mammoth Resotel because it offered a good rate and was conveniently located near some small eateries and was just a 5 min drive from the park entrance. It was simple but good. The staff were very helpful, even allowing us to use the washing machine & dryer, and the self-cook breakfast was simple but plentiful (eggs and noodles).

There will never be anyone at the reception desk. I arrived at night and had already informed prior of my late check-in yet for close to 20 minutes of calling/yelling for people to attend me at the reception desk. Nobody was there. Same goes when checking out time as well. From morning till afternoon zero people at the reception desk!

If you're needing cheap and cheerful then Mammoth Resortel is good value. It's basic but has everything necessary, including a basic self-make breakfast and washing facilities. Its location is good if you're wanting to hike in the national park, it's just a 3km drive up the road. There're a handful of traditional restaurants just an amble away, serving a variety of local fare.
