As a solo traveler, finding the right balance between a social atmosphere and a peaceful place to rest can be challenging, but Madpackers Varanasi hits the perfect sweet spot. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome, offering great local tips that helped me navigate the chaotic yet beautiful streets of the city. The true highlight of the hostel is the lively rooftop common area, offering beautiful views of the Ganges—it is a fantastic space to meet fellow travelers from all over the world, swap stories, and unwind after a long day of exploring the ghats. The iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple is just a short, scenic 12 to 15-minute walk through the fascinating, narrow maze of local alleys. The hostel organizes excellent walking tours and evening activities, making it incredibly easy to find companions for the Ganga Aarti ceremony or a boat ride. The dorms and bathrooms are clean, the beds are comfortable with plenty of privacy, and the Wi-Fi is reliable. If you are traveling alone and looking for a safe, vibrant, and social base in Varanasi, this is definitely the place to stay!
