Lady Todd

Stayed in the sister hotel (Mr Todd) previously and can say this location which is just up the street is just as good if not better ! Rooms are bright, modern and clean with very comfy beds. Couldn’t fault the hotel at all and perfect location for visiting Valletta across the bay and all blue lagoon boat trips starting from the bottom of the street.

The price is very good considering the location close to the ferries and bus station.

The location is clearly what you are paying for here. Unfortunately, when it comes to the room, facilities, and basic amenities, the experience simply did not justify the price. I travel frequently and consider myself a fairly easygoing traveler, but even the basics were lacking. The room had cracked walls and stained towels, while the amenities were very limited. The shampoo and soap in the large, a wall-mounted dispenser appeared watered down, and they were not replenished at all during our two-night stay. By the last night, there was not even enough product available to properly wash myself. This is particularly frustrating because these are not small, individual bottles that guests are expected to manage themselves—the hotel uses large, fixed dispensers, so keeping them adequately filled should be a basic part of housekeeping. I’m not someone who expects luxury or perfection, but there is a real level of frustration when you’re paying a premium for a property and could get a significantly better experience elsewhere for the same price. If the room rate reflected the quality of the accommodation, I wouldn’t have much to say. Unfortunately, it felt like the hotel is taking advantage of the strong tourism demand and exceptional location to charge a premium—not because the quality warrants it, but simply because they can. One important point about the online reviews: I found the reviews quite mixed, and I now wonder if part of that may be due to confusion between the two properties, Mr. Todd and Lady Todd. They are under the same company, but from what I was told by locals, they are not necessarily the same in terms of room quality and overall experience. I was told that Mr. Todd has the better rooms and may provide more of the experience I was expecting based on the reviews I had read. Because the names are so similar and the properties are under the same company, I suspect some guests may have inadvertently mixed up the two when reviewing or choosing where to stay. Unfortunately, I stayed at Lady Todd, and based on my experience—and what I was told locally—the quality does not seem to match what some of the more positive reviews led me to expect. The location is excellent, but ultimately, Lady Todd was poor value for what I paid. I would strongly recommend travelers double-check which property they are actually booking and not assume that reviews for Mr. Todd necessarily reflect the experience at Lady Todd.
