La Creste Sunset Residence Phu Quoc

We write this review in hopes of saving English-speaking tourists to Phu Quoc the hassle of dealing with this bait and switch operation in Sunset Town of Phu Quoc. The first clue of this scam that we ignored was that the provided property address could not be found in Google maps. La Creste Sunset Residence is a made up name according to the people who checked us in. They admitted this to us when we asked them about the name at check-in because we couldn’t find it on any online map. The only way we were able to get there from the airport was because they had hired a driver to shuttle us from the airport after we inquired about how to get to the condo. FYI, through this whole ordeal, the person we talked to on the phone gave us conflicting info to the people who physically checked us into the condo. The person on the phone had a caller ID of Matthew and probably was the “the good cop” of the operation. The name of the actual building in Sunset Town is The Sky at Hillside Residence. It is part of a collection of condo buildings in Sunset Town of Phu Quoc called Sun Grand City Hillside Residence. There was another building called the Sea so you get the theme. We had booked a 3 bedroom condo for our family of 5 on Agoda less than a week before arrival at the end of May 2026. When we arrived that evening, the managers of that condo said that there was a mistake in our reservation. They said that Agoda only sent them confirmation of a 2-bedroom condo. They offered to move us to a 3-bedroom condo the next day because it is currently not ready. However we would have to pay an additional *** per night in cash to get the room that we originally booked on Agoda. They claimed that our booking on Agoda was in error. So we either have to pay about 90% more per night than our original booking or stay in the two bedroom condo. After some debate, we both agreed that we would contact Agoda the next day and stay the night in the two bedroom condo. By morning, we decided to not pay the extra cash payment and stay in the two bedroom condo. About an hour after we informed them of that decision, they called us to tell us they needed to move us to another 2 bedroom condo because they put us in the wrong one the previous night. They told us that our condo is next door and that it is a better condo. So we had to move all of our stuff to the next building which was *** to *** so that they can prepare our current one for the rightful guests coming in later that day. The next door 2-bedroom condo was older, smaller due to the configuration of the master bedroom, and also not ready. After gathering all of our stuff and moving over to the new condo, we had to wait in the living room for about an hour while a team of workers came to clean the condo. Yes, can you see where they blatantly lied that our supposedly original 2 bedroom condo had people in it the previous night? We are Vietnamese Americans and are fluent in both English and Vietnamese so there was no chance of a miscommunication or misunderstanding. While we sat there in the older and smaller condo than from the previous night, we realized that we had been played by the managers of La Creste. To them , our refusal to pay them additional money in cash so they can avoid giving extra commissions to Agoda meant a downgrade. Please pay due diligence when booking any property in Phu Quoc named La Creste. However, we are pretty sure that after a few bad reviews that the managers will simply rename the property to something else that you cant find on any map.
