    Very charming room in a historic building. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Staff polite and attentive. Excellent location; walked everywhere. Delicious and filling breakfast.

    I booked here to take advantage based on its good reviews. I think my experience is not universal so take it with a grain of salt. The room I was given was the bottom-most room, as far as I could tell. I had to descend stairs next to the main dining area into what felt like a service area. The smell was damp and musty as I went down. The room wasn't terrible smelling, but it was quite dark and just felt a bit dungeony. The bathroom, as others have noted, was small and a bit dark. I feel like better bulbs and lamps could fix a bit of the dark-dungeon feel. The shower was small and gave me a bit of claustrophobic vibes. Towels, linens, pillows were all clean, but had a dingy appearance. Not bright white anymore. Which also, is fine, but.... The AC worked but would make noises randomly like it was breaking. A sharp, plastic snapping sound. It would wake me up, through my earplugs. The noise is a huge issue. I think it's unavoidable in such a central location. However, my room was facing the street. I went to the front desk the next morning and explained the noise. They said it was because there was a party the night before and it would be quieter the next nights. They were right, but it was still loud with revelers and cars with loud music, etc driving by. They didn't offer to put my in an interior, or quieter, room. I should have been more insistent. The breakfast was pretty good. No issues there. Overall, it's fine. The AC worked, the room was clean-ish, and the shower worked. I think I just had higher expectations at the final price per night that it ended up being.
