My first time to the property even though I've been in Reno for 25 years. The price was reasonable but once again the casinos gouge the customer by charging them a resort fee that's almost the same as the room fee itself so it virtually doubles the price of the room and I'm handicap so I can't use the pool or the gym or anything else that other hotels that are not so-called Resorts don't charge for. The room was very nice with a big comfortable bed although I was surprised that there was no microwave in the room but they do have a small refrigerator. The resort is a couple of blocks away from all of the other casinos so for somebody like me with a prosthetic leg it's not easy walking distance but that's okay. The casino floor in the Jay Resort is decent size but they have very minimal table games only a few blackjack tables and the rest are all slot machines. They have a coffee shop but it closes at 10:00 p.m. which is a bummer because all the other casinos have coffee shops that are open 24 hours. Other than that the place was nice

My wife and I were not impressed. Its a small casino with lots of empty spaces (they are currently building something else, not sure what). The room was very clean and simple. VERY soft mattress. Small fridge (no freezer) and no microwave (?). Small bar in rear of casino but no staff at bar. They charge resort fees but there is NO resort, its just a casino with a hotel. No pool or spa available. On-site restaurant "Hanna's Table" is Denny's-quality food with mediocre service, and not any sort of bargain. The property is clean with a new renovation, but for now, its just a boring, small, nothing-to-see-or-do property without any "resort" features. With family in the area we visit Reno quite frequently, and we like to "mix it up" where we stay when we visit. J Resort is a one-&-done for us until and unless the property improves significantly with the ongoing renovations and construction. Maybe someday it will live up to its name, the "J RESORT".
