It is a well run place with great staff, solidly in the mid range level of food and drink and the dive shop on premises makes daily diving super easy. One wish would be for the hotel to have a shuttle to and from town

Their dedication to the environment is impressive. They were renovating the Asian Restaurant so it was closed. We ate in the Mexican Restaurant and service was good as was the food. The buffets —there were two are huge. Food is good and replenished frequently. I usually stay at Occidental—which is newer and smaller. It was closed so I booked at the Iberostar. I worked out great.

I’ve been traveling to Cozumel for over 25 years. I am a diver. The majority of my trips have been to Occidental Cozumel. Occidental is smaller than Iberostar but the rooms are much larger in Occidental. The staff at both resorts are lovely, friendly and helpful. Occidental is a newer property, so the rooms look newer. Occidental rooms have stall showers and bath tubs. Some of my clients needed two beds in their rooms. I booked suites for them and found out when we arrived that the suites do not have two beds, rather a king bed and a pull out couch. The food was good, and buffets were huge! Theme nights abound—Mexican, American, Asian., etc. Occidental does the same A la carte restaurants at Occifental are sometimes difficult to book, and must be done in advance. A la Carte Restaurants atIbeorstar did not need reservations. What impressed me most was their approach to the ocean, with a huge recycling plan, no disposable plastic cups, no drinking straws, and amenities in the room were environmentally friendly, and all natural Occidental could take a page from their book on that. It impressed me most. I don’t eat breakfast, but look forward to a good cup of coffee(in my room). The coffee was so weak. No matter what I did: Less water, double bags, it was still horrible. WE are divers, but I have an operationI’ve used for years, so did not use Dressel. I did ask a few questions though, and they were polite and helpful. I had a Vernon-divers with me and they really enjoyed everything they participated in—including the nightly shows. Iberostar shows we’re more like shows at allegro. Occidental has them too, but more cultural. I would definitely go back, If Occidental wasn’t available—Iberostar is just a little too big for me.

Rated at 5, not at that level. Clean facilities and staff are excellent. Very dated furniture and rooms.
