Hygge Hotel

We chose Hygge Jeju as our base in the south so we could explore different areas of Jeju with less driving. The location is decent, with other hotels nearby, and the ocean view is undeniably beautiful. But any property along this coastline offers similar views. The only real highlight was the complimentary ramen and snacks in the basement. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell below our expectations, especially compared with other hotels and XXX we stayed at in Jeju for a similar price. Parking is limited and quite cramped, so you may need to park outside when the lot is full. The room itself was below average by Jeju standards. There was no sofa, low chair, or proper table, only a narrow counter with uncomfortable high chairs. Basic toiletries such as shampoo and body wash came in tiny refillable bottles, which can be inconvenient during longer stays. The bathroom was the biggest disappointment. There was visible mold, poor ventilation, and no divider between the shower and toilet, so the entire floor becomes wet after use. Even at night when we came back, the floor was still wet. The bathtub is also located separately from the toilet and shower area, which makes it impractical to use. We never used it. Just be aware that the actual bathroom layout is not clearly shown in the listing photos. The hotel is entirely self check-in and check-out, with room details and access codes sent through Agoda or your booking app. There is no front desk, so good luck getting help if something goes wrong. The slippers were very worn, the shelves were dusty, and the room was difficult to keep cool during the day despite the air con. The floor-to-ceiling windows cannot be opened, trapping all the heat without any ventilation. There was also a locked door inside the room. I have no idea why it was there, usually these doors lead to another room. But our room was next to the lift. So maybe it was staff storage or a secret access to the lift. The only time I really saw a staff member was when the manager came out late night and started yapping about where he was from on the mainland, his life in Jeju, and how he ended up working there. I tried to cut the conversation short because we just wanted to refill water and grab our snacks, but he kept going. He was dressed very casually in slippers and shorts, and I honestly wouldn’t have known he was the manager until he introduced himself. I had previously stayed at XXX, which was much better, with actual staff and warm hospitality. Here, the building felt like an office converted into a hotel. We stayed in an XXX in the north, another hotel in the east, and this hotel in the southwest. Among them, this was by far the worst. The XXX was cozy, and the other hotel had better facilities and service at a similar price. I would not describe Hygge Jeju as terrible, but in a destination like Jeju, where there are many excellent options, it is below average. The hotel XXXX XXX, has larger bathrooms, proper seating areas, staff, and balconies with tables and chairs to enjoy the ocean views. It was only around XXX more per night, which I would rather pay if I could choose again. Overall: 3/10.

Definitely recommend if you are seeking somewhere to stay away from busy areas. Handy snack items available if you don't get to the convenience stores before closing. Great view over ocean and comfortable large room.

We like it because of the view. And the fact that we do get the basic housekeeping when we request for it. It is a bit troublesome if you are taking public transport but the bus does connect everywhere in the morning but same as all part os jeju, somehow in the afternoon, buses are rare and in between. But kakaoTaxi is really helpful. The K-BBQ just a few door away is so good!

Shower water pressure low. Curtains doesn’t seem not fully blocked sunlight. Limited car park. Add laundromat service will be better.
