Hyatt Place San Diego Carlsbad Vista

The hotel is only 12 minutes from Legoland with traffic and about 7 without. There are good food around the area within a 15 minutes drive. Plus Costco is across the street from Legoland. The hotel staffs is great and with the price of the stay, you get free breakfast. Great for family. One downside to the room is that the sink is outside of the bathroom and the bathroom is kinda dark. We got our room where the window is next to the hallway window that people and look in. Beside that, everything is okay.

Bathroom fixtures in shower had rust. Water pressure very low. Energy efficient rooms which was fine for lights and a/c, but terrible for water. When getting coffee after breakfast service closed there was no creamer or real sugar. Front desk staff shrugged it off as waiting for shipments. Next morning there was. Location was great for our purpose of being there for Legoland. Cleanliness of room overall was good.

The front desk staff Aidan was the best thing about Hyatt Place. Our stay started off great with his welcoming smile and kindness. He was everything you’d wish for a hotel staff. You can tell every one who met him felt the same as we had observed the following day while he helped with the hotel’s daily breakfast service. Other than that it was disappointing. The housekeeper never showed up even tho we personally followed up. There was mo shower curtain in the shower area and while 2 housekeepers were right outside in the hallway, neither speaks English and couldn’t understand us. We were delayed getting ready just to get a shower curtain which was handed to us to hang it ourselves. The next evening, we noticed the toilet bowl was slow draining so we were worried to use it. We called the front desk for service or a plunger. We were told there were no more maintenance staff that time at that time (7pm ish) and that she couldn’t find a plunger. I actually had to personally go downstairs to talk w/ the front desk attendant because she didn’t call me back to say so. I literally had to ask what should be done then so she asked if I wanted to transfer to another room. This was Mother’s Day evening (Sunday), of course I had to. What would we with an 84 yo mom supposed to do with a room with a problematic bathroom? No apology whatsoever. I was just given the keys for another room and an hour to move all our stuff. I will never ever go back to this place. We daw Aidan the next morning at the breakfast place. We told him how wonderful he is w/ such cheerful positive attitude and that he was the only thing that was positive about this hotel. His smiles lit up this place. Not sure if this hotel deserves someone great like him but we sure appreciated he was there, the only saving grace for us.
