If I wasn't back on agoda booking another hotel, I wouldn't leave a review, but I'm here now.
The head company that owns the pub should hang their head in shame. They need to fund refurbishments. I got a strange rash on my leg from my stay there which took over 2 months to clear and has left behind scarring. The room was filthy and I took photos.
I have stayed in hostels abroad with cockroaches that looked cleaner than this. Caked dirt, bathroom not clean. Add insult to injury, the shower collapsed on me in the cubicle, and the water would not drain as I stood in my dead skin soup.
The room was so humid, I had to choose between moth attack or melting. I did not have a restful sleep at all, I woke up multiple times from over heating. This was in April, so it was not really warm, just comfortable that day/night. I did not drink so had no alcohol blanket.
The room needed a deep deep deep clean and then proper cleaning between guests.
Very convenient location as it was directly opposite the road from the wedding venue. If you don't drive, it's not convenient.
Worst English breakfast I've had but whatever.
The staff were polite.
The pub itself looks like it's instilled with a deep history but is in need of tlc for some of the upholstery. Otherwise, it's a pub with delightful character.
Book an Uber or get a quote from the cab company (they hung up before I managed to ask) they provide as otherwise they'll also scam you. I was too tired to argue the ridiculous fee we were charged for the ride back to Cheltenham, far exceeding anything even a ride in London would charge for the same distance.
I will never book another Greene King company hotel unless I see a statement somewhere they're doing a nationwide refurb project to give respect to the pubs and lodgings.
