HUMA Kotor Bay

Exceptional service and location. Staff was very polite and understanding. Excellent location. Would stay again.

We really loved our stay in Huma! The staff are very accomodating and friendly, especially Sam (from beach bar). The breakfast spread is very great, they even have prossecco!! It is quite a long walk going to Kotor old town but you can book a taxi for €10 We will definitely stay here again!! I just wish they have some kayak or paddle board to rent for guests

Huma Kotor Bay markets itself as 5 stars, but our 3-night stay didn't live up to that. The front-line staff were friendly, but it took escalating all the way to the director of guest relations before issues were actually resolved. All in, I wasted two of the three days arguing about the room and cleanliness instead of actually enjoying the stay. Cleanliness was the biggest problem. When we entered the room, I noticed the toilet hadn't been properly cleaned — there was literally a piece of feces on the wall of the toilet. The baby cot they provided was dirty, the floor hadn't been cleaned, the closets had visible stains, and there was mold on the shower wall. Several of the towels we received were stained as well. Noise carries between rooms. Most of the rooms seem to have connecting doors, and you can hear everything clearly — including shouting. On one night I had to go down to reception at 1 AM, twice, to get the neighbors to quiet down. The nest incident. There are nests on the balconies — the hotel says they're for birds, but they looked more like hornet nests to me. I asked the cleaning team whether they were dangerous; I didn't ask for them to be removed and didn't want any animals harmed. They decided to clean it anyway while we were out. When we came back, our luggage, baby gear, and the sofa were covered in debris from the nest (it's windy on the balconies, so everything blew inside). When I raised it, the head of housekeeping claimed the debris was "tobacco or spices" — we don't smoke and had no spices. A guest relations rep then told me they'd need to investigate before "pointing fingers" and that it's actually illegal to touch the nests (again, I never asked them to). When I asked for a different room and free laundry, I was told it would be at our cost and no rooms were available — until I escalated to the director of guest relations, at which point a clean room and free laundry suddenly became possible. Pool. Infinity pool with a genuinely beautiful view — you can watch cruise ships passing through the bay. But the pool bar had no bartender and no service the entire stay. The umbrellas were just thrown to the side (I set mine up myself). To get a beer, I had to walk over to the restaurant next door and ask someone — three trips before I actually got one. I flagged it to reception on day one and nothing changed by the last day. Beach (Virtu bar). A bright spot — great service and a lovely hostess. Bottom line: Stunning location and views, but cleanliness, service consistency, and accountability fell well short of a 5-star standard. Be prepared to escalate to get anything resolved — and to lose part of your trip doing it.
