    Overall, this was a solid, no-frills stay. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and we really appreciated being accommodated with an early check-in. The staff were friendly throughout, and the location is fantastic — literally a 2-minute walk from Coco Bongo. The room is clearly designed to be romantic, and I'm sure it looked stunning when it was newer. Unfortunately, it's starting to show its age, with rust, peeling wallpaper, and discoloured grout visible throughout the room and bathroom. The bathroom is beautiful at first glance but isn't the most practical. The shower isn't properly sealed, so water escapes easily, and the sink's water pressure splashes everywhere — even on its lowest setting. This is especially noticeable when only one towel per person is provided. We booked one of the rooms with the private jacuzzi/tub, but honestly I'd recommend sticking with one of the standard rooms with a view instead. Ours was dirty, rusty, and covered in debris from nearby construction for our entire stay, so we never felt comfortable using it. Our ground-floor room was also quite noisy, with conversations, footsteps, and lobby noise carrying inside. Other small things we noticed were a non-functioning safe, no conditioner, robes, slippers, or complimentary filtered drinking water, a ceiling fan that barely moved any air, a motion-sensor bathroom light that kept turning off every few minutes if you stayed still, and a bathroom fan with no indication that it was ever running. One tip for future travellers: for whatever reason, tour operators and taxi/InDrive drivers almost never picked us up directly in front of the hotel. We were usually asked to meet them around the corner or just off the main street instead, so keep that in mind if you're booking excursions. If you're looking for an affordable place to sleep in an excellent location and don't mind skipping the extras, this hotel gets the job done! That said, there are several similarly priced options nearby that appear newer and better maintained. Looking back, I think I'd probably choose one of those next time — but if you find a great deal here, you'll likely get what you pay for.

    The staff were so accommodating. We were allowed to check in early without additional charge. The location is near Quintana Roo where all the restaurants and action is but not too close that you will hear the noise at night.

    Great location with lots of dining/bar options on 5th Ave and options further from5th Ave where the locals eat. Kitchenette in room was a great surprise. Several of the outlets didn’t work , but we made it work with charging all our electronics. Would stay there again! Free water in the hotel would be nice. We were always walking to 7 eleven or oxxo for water. Both convenience stores are close by. We preferred the oxxo. .

    We booked a room here for one night based, hoping for good enough wifi to stream a football game. Other reviews had said the internet was adequate. When we first checked in, a speed test showed 9Mbps down and just 0.3Mbps up. Not great, but we were able to stream TV. By the time the game started, it had deteriorated to the point that it was unusable. The bedside lamp had a short in the switch so it would spark, and the lamp would flicker. We unplugged it so as not to start a fire. The shower had both a shower head and a wand on a hose, and it was set to spray out of the wand. After a lot of pushing and pulling, I was finally able to get it to come out of the shower head. The hot water took so long to arrive that I assumed there was none and, after about 5 minutes of waiting, took a cold shower. The hot water finally arrived just as I was finishing. The enclosed patio also had a one-person jacuzzi tub with no drain stopper. It looked old, worn, and dirty. Didn't bother to try it. On the plus side, our room had a wet bar, refrigerator, and microwave, all of which worked. The bed and loveseat were both comfortable, although the pillows were cheap and basic. There was a work desk and office chair in the room too. The location is great if you want to be near the action. This also means you'll be listening to the music from the local nightclubs at 3am. All in all, I'm glad we stayed just one night.
