Hotel Livemax Kobe-Sannomiya

Room is quite small but generally okay

Not recommend for to people for room bed is too small ! There was a smell of cigarette smoke in the room, even though I had specifically requested a non-smoking room. The hotel does not offer luggage storage services.

This hotel is a standard Livemax, if you have ever stayed in a Livemax before you know what to expect. The room is not huge but gets everything you need in it including a desk, chair, fridge, microwave, kettle and others. The bed is fine, the bathroom is fine and the general hotel is fine. However there were several elements in my room that were clearly in need of repair. The fitting around the window had come away from the celling and was hanging loose, the lower shower holder was just gone and the higher one very wobbly to the point I worried that moving the shower head would detach it, there were black marks all over the walls, peeling wallpaper and other issues. In short, the room need refurb and repair. The price was also higher than I would normally like for a hotel of this quality. In terms of location its about 10 minutes north of the Sannomiya station so you have easy access to public transport, food options and some of the tourist sites. The staff were great, they deserve full marks for their service. One final issue, the way the room is laid out puts the head of the bed beneath the window, if they had good blackout curtains this would be fine, but they use a pair of pull down blinds that do not go flush to the window or wall. So while the room can be dark during the lighter hours the pillow area cannot, it will always be lit by the sun making sleeping past dawn difficult. The fix for this would be better curtains/blinds or moving the bed but due to the narrow nature of the room this isn't really possible. In general I still think this is a perfectly reasonable option to stay in but there were issues and I think the hotel needs to review and repair its rooms.
