Set right in the heart of the city, this hotel would be great for adventurous travelers on a budget. You can't do better at this price point. The rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly, and the location is superb. However, the rooms are ageing and there are cobwebs everywhere, and there is no air-conditioning at all, only a fan and a heater. This is contrary to the Agoda listing, which claims they have air-conditioning. The shower doors in a couple of our rooms were also falling apart, and the shower either smells of smoke or sewage. Sound-wise, it's amazingly soundproof from the restaurants below, but not smoke proof as the rooms would often smell of cigarettes. Overall, it is frankly a great place for budget travelers, but anyone with more resources might want to consider a different hotel.

There are spiders (+baby spiders) in the room and it is not a day thing. Possibly they are here for a long time. Reception did nothing but sayin it is nature. They did not even try to clean it.

On the plus side, there is the exceptional location with perfect river-view, the easy check-in and acceptable cleanliness. On the negative side, there are old and only haphazardly fixed facilities (the floor in my bathroom was broken with a large, wobbly plate covering it up; not dangerous, but not adequate either) and the audible music from the cafe/bar below. All in all, a viable option when you're in Cologne on a budget or not very picky.

Located right beside of the Kole HBF, I would say this is a really great location. We see the bridge from the window and cathedral is just beside. Although we can see this is an old building, but it is maintained in good condition. The water boiler was not provided in the room but we could request from the recipient, the staffs were very friendly and helpful.
