    This was my second visit to Hotel J Ambalangoda, and sadly, it fell far short of my expectations compared to my previous stay. What was once a charming and relaxing getaway has clearly declined in quality. The overall cleanliness of the room was disappointing – stained linens, dusty blinds, and a general lack of upkeep made the space feel neglected. Basic amenities such as complimentary water, tea/coffee packs, a kettle, or even a telephone to reach the front desk were completely missing. These are standard essentials in any decent hotel, and their absence was quite frustrating. The staff also seemed unmotivated and lacked the warmth and attentiveness one would hope for during a stay. That said, there are still a few positives worth mentioning. The pool area remains a highlight, offering beautiful views of the beach – a great spot to relax. The food was enjoyable, and I appreciate the efforts of the chef. Special thanks as well to the young lady at the front office, who also helped with F&B service in the morning – she stood out with her helpfulness and positive attitude. It’s disheartening to see such a promising place lose its charm. I sincerely hope the management takes guest feedback seriously and works on restoring the standards that once made this hotel worth returning to. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend it.
