Hotel Haya

Met expectations as I rarely stay at anything other than 5 stars, Tampa hotel market is odd and the 5 star properties here look like terrible value for what you get so I opted for Hotel Haya and was pleasantly surprised. Took an optional upgrade for about a third of the nightly room rate into a corner suite with large balcony with tons of space and it's been great. Staff is super friendly and helpful, gym is well equipped and open 24/7, no spa but pool is nice as is the lobby bar and restaurant. Great design and premium materials used throughout the property make it feel like a 4.5 star.

In my opinion, this hotel is nowhere near a 4-star standard. I would consider it more of a 3-star hotel, and honestly, I would rather stay at a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn, which I would consider similar or even better in terms of overall quality. 1. Room type request I specifically requested a room with two queen beds, but my reservation was assigned a king bed instead. I’m not sure whether this was an issue with Agoda or the hotel. I asked the hotel to change the room to two queen beds, but they were unable to accommodate my request. I was told the hotel was fully booked, so while I was disappointed, this was not the main reason for my negative review. 2. Cleanliness The room was simply not clean. I understand that the hotel is somewhat old, but the condition and cleanliness were disappointing. The bathroom and bedroom floors did not appear to have been properly cleaned, and especially the table looked like it had not been wiped down for quite some time. 3. Shower The shower was very inconvenient. The water temperature and water pressure are controlled together, making it difficult to adjust the temperature properly. Also, because it is a standing shower without a door, water splashes all over the bathroom floor. The design is simply not practical. 4. Housekeeping I stayed for two nights and, on the second day, I requested fresh towels instead of full room cleaning. Unfortunately, the towels were not properly folded or arranged. They were simply left in the room in a very careless manner, which was disappointing. The hotel was described as a boutique hotel, and I actually considered staying at a Hyatt instead. However, I ended up paying almost a 5-star hotel price for this property. Based on my experience, I will definitely choose a well-known hotel brand next time rather than a boutique hotel. The valet parking service was fine. Then again, at $39 per day, I would expect it to be.
