    We stayed at Hotel Musala in Varna from August 29 to September 2, 2026, and overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a very central location, making it easy to reach almost everywhere on foot. We stayed as three people. Our room had a double bed, while the sofa in the other room was converted into a bed. Both were comfortable. The room was clean and even had a small balcony, which was a nice bonus. The building is more than 100 years old, but it is still functional and has a lot of character. The very old elevators initially surprised us, but we actually found them quite charming and authentic. The only significant issue was the reception and check-in process. We arrived at around 11:20 PM, but we had received no information beforehand through Agoda or by email regarding late check-in or how to access the hotel after a certain hour. When we arrived, the doors were locked. There was a note on the reception window with my name and a Bulgarian phone number that we could call until 11:00 PM. However, we did not have a Bulgarian phone number, so we could not call it. Fortunately, a couple passing by on the street helped us and explained the situation in Bulgarian. Without their help, we might not have been able to enter the hotel and check in that night. The woman on the phone also told us that she normally turns off her phone after 11:00 PM and that we were lucky she answered. This was a genuinely stressful and risky situation, and information about the late check-in procedure should absolutely have been provided to us in advance. Apart from this issue, we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay and would consider staying here again.

    Probably the better of the handful of hostels around the 10-15 euro price range. A few oddities, although not a big deal. Location is central and the neighborhood is nice. Everything is walkable, as would be expected in Europe.
