Unfortunately our stay did not start off well. When we checked in I checked breakfast was included as he hadn't mentioned anything about it, he said no, so showed the email confirming it was, so said he would put a note on the account. Told us when breakfast was served and that was it, off we went to our room. The room on first glance seemed ok it was big, but pretty dated. The tea tray was cheap considering this was supposed to be 4 star. We had had a long day and were looking forward to a refreshing shower, the plug hole was dirty and full of hair which I cleaned out, so I was already apprehensive about it, then the water was scorching hot. We rang down and the receptionist came up switched it on and couldn't get it to go colder, unfortunately they didn't have any spare rooms to move us to, but they could move us the next day. So it was a rinse in the bath instead. The next day we were moved to another room which was a lot smaller but still the same type, a deluxe double, compared to the previous room size it didn't feel the same but were assured it was. At least we were able to have a shower. Cleanliness still was low with a bit of tissue left on the floor in the main bedroom which I left for them to sort out. We had to ask for a fan, which barely blew a breeze but we had given up at this point to expect anything better. Both rooms require maintenance and the showers and sink taps really need replacing in both rooms. They are covered in limescale, look like they have seen better days. Also the tap over the sink is completely in the way if you want to rinse your face with water as it blocks the whole of the sink. The on site restaurant had decent food but the service was slow even though there were only 4 or 5 tables occupied, the barmaid looked like she didn't have a clue what she was doing and they initially brought us someone else's food, but thankfully got our food fairly quickly after. Breakfast, even though we weren't told where we needed to go or how things worked when we checked in, we arrived in the morning and ordered our hot food, the food was average, but the coffee appalling it tasted like watered down filter coffee. The continental selection was basic. All in all it was not a great stay, ok for staying 1 night and being close-ish to airports but I would not recommend it as somewhere to stay for a number of nights.

The room was spotless, albeit a little tired. Plenty of room and beautiful large bay window. Bed linen and towels be was good quality. Mattress size was great but it was on two single bases with a gap between them so for two people who like a cuddle, this wouldn’t be ideal. (I was in a king deluxe). There’s no aircon and a fan is provided but did little to move the air about despite and open window. Breakfast was ok, continental a little sparse and the pastries looked sad, but the cooked breakfast offerings were great. Staffing seems sparse, but the place obviously functions well. At the end of the day this hotel and its team are doing their best to maintain a high standard whilst it awaits an update and refresh, which its location deserves.

I booked this hotel as my family was staying there for a family wedding. On arrival, I felt as though I had been put in the “spare” room, and it was not up to standard. I would have complained there and then, but I did not want my niece to see me doing so, and I understood that all the rooms were full. The room itself was in poor condition: the carpet was dirty, the ceiling paper was coming down in places, and there were cobwebs on the rickety blinds. I then discovered that the room was very warm because the radiator was on ( This was at the time of hottest days recorded ). When I raised this at dinner and asked for a fan, I was initially told there were none and that the window could only be opened further. To the receptionist’s credit, a fan was later found and left in my room. The next morning, I went down to breakfast and found that the coffee was cold and there was no fruit left, although a waiter did bring me a bowl of watermelon. Other guests mentioned that they had kettles and tea or coffee in their rooms, but I did not. I also discovered when I had very wet hair, and I was getting ready to go to my niece's wedding, that the hairdryer did not work. The bed was also disappointing. The duvet appeared to be about 20 years old, there were three bottom sheets with hair in between them, and there were many stains on the duvet and sheets. There was also a great deal of dust, which was disgusting. Overall, the room and facilities were far below the standard I expected, especially for a family wedding stay. As for the bed, it wasn't the best. When I leave a room I always strip the bed, the duvet was about 20yrs old, there was 3 bottom sheets on it with hair inbetween oh and many stains on duvet & sheets, as for the amout of dust, it was disgusting Everytime I try to upload photos it fails

We had a comfortable night stay in this hotel. The price for the night was excellent! We found the hotel interior and our room was a little dated and some areas a little dusty and needed a bit of attention. The location was lovely and the outdoor seating area was beautiful! We had dinner at the hotel which was ok. We also found the breakfast room a little chaos with orders going to the wrong tables and stocks of the buffet not being replenished ! Overall it was a decent stay.
