Loyal Customer for Years — Illegally Evicted from a Paid Room, Property Destroyed by Staff, and Corporate Refusal to Respond
Review:
I’ve stayed at Extended Stay America about 30 times this past year, including this location where I had already been staying nine consecutive days under four separate reservations before this incident. I had just made and paid for another verified four-day reservation when everything went wrong.
That fact is crucial—my room was fully paid and confirmed. This wasn’t a checkout issue or unpaid stay. It was an illegal eviction that occurred after payment was accepted, purely out of personal retaliation from an employee who admitted she was the only person running the entire hotel.
That morning I spent over three hours (9 a.m.–noon) trying to reach the front desk. No one answered. My concern was simple: since Extended Stay claims no responsibility for theft or loss of property, I wanted confirmation my room was secure. Even corporate customer care tried multiple times and couldn’t reach staff—proof of poor management.
When the employee finally responded, she took my professional, fact-based concern as a personal insult. There had been no prior incidents, no guest complaints, no misconduct—nothing. She made it personal and retaliated, illegally evicting me from my paid room.
While I was an hour away, staff entered my locked room and destroyed my belongings. They claimed my items were being taken to “lost and found,” but that was a sarcastic cover-up. In reality, everything was dumped behind the hotel, exposed to weather and strangers. At this property, “lost and found” meant lost by being thrown away so someone else could find it.
My belongings were thrown together without care—herbal-wellness products mixed with dirty items, food packed with raw meat leaking over it, and my herbal-infusion machine, mid-cycle with oil, tipped and left to drain, ruining clothes and business materials. They even grabbed my open bath products straight from the shower and tossed them into my bag, letting liquids leak through everything.
This wiped out my livelihood, not just my possessions. I had money deposited for those four nights of shelter, but I ended up sick, homeless, without food or medicine, and forced to replace essentials out of pocket.
My daughter arrived separately and tried to reason with the employee. During a recorded call with Agoda’s representative, the staff member told her I was charged for towels “because of her purple hair.” There was never mention of damage; I use my own towel. A new guest checking in complimented my daughter for staying calm after being mistreated and said she “wouldn’t tolerate it.” An elderly long-term guest stood beside her, calling me “a kind person” and confirming I’d never caused issues. My daughter and both witnesses saw the employee kick a doorstop, fling a door open, and slam it violently.
Lobby cameras and the Agoda call recording could easily prove this. I have recordings, receipts, and documents and have offered them repeatedly. Corporate refuses to review any of it.
My formal complaint (filed Oct 9) was ignored. When I finally reached someone, I was told the company “wants nothing to do with me as a customer” and was given only a fax number for their legal department, forcing me to seek relief in court.
A responsible company would investigate, contact witnesses, or at least acknowledge evidence. Instead, Extended Stay America seems focused only on taking your money and providing no accountability, even when staff destroy property, food, medicine, and business materials.
Final Note:
This company clearly fails to train or supervise its staff in even basic hospitality. Guests deserve respect—not retaliation. Extended Stay America has turned that upside down. It’s a business that takes your money, ignores its own policies, and mistreats the very people keeping it in business. Beware before you book.

So, upon arrival, the location is nice. I read reviews right before we got there… it does have a smell to it. The elevator was horrendous. It smelt of maple syrup/old pee/mildew. The staff were very kind, and helpful. Even the people who live there were very kind. However, we won’t be staying nor recommending it. I don’t know what I was breathing in, but it was disgusting. Our room was seemingly clean as well.
