in a tastefully renovated old building in a great location very near sites, restaurants, cafes, shops and the sea front. Our room had a lovely big balcony and the breakfast was great. The staff were helpful and friendly. The great toiletries and welcome sweets added a nice touch. Only minor issue was that the shower could use a little maintenance. But overall a great place to stay in the centre of the city.

There is no gym in the Hotel though it was said to be.

We stayed for three nights at the Excelsior Hotel during our return to the city, having used another hotel just around the corner previously. The Excelsior is elegant and beautiful, and the employees were very friendly. However, after staying there, we noticed some issues.
Firstly, there is absolutely no soundproofing in the street-facing windows, which means you can hear street noise throughout the night. It was nearly impossible to sleep before 2 or 3 a.m. Additionally, although they advertise having a gym, there is none available. The breakfast menu is decent, but nothing exceptional.
Moreover, the hotel rooms only have one English-language TV channel, which is the BBC. Overall, the experience fell short of our expectations, and the hotel prices itself too high for what you receive in return.
