We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Evergreen. It’s quite possibly the most wonderful lodge / hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my 56 years of life, and I’ve traveled the world. My husband and I decided we would come back once a year, a different season each year so we can experience the unique beauty of summer, winter, spring, and fall at Yosemite and at the lodge. When you hear that a lodge is an hour outside of Yosemite Valley, it sounds really far, but it’s surprisingly not. The drive is beautiful and goes by quickly. There’s so much to see.. The lodge is maybe 15 minutes off the main road to Yosemite and is outside of the park. It’s down a lovely wandering road thru the forest. Another 15 minutes or so down the road from the hotel is Hetchhetchy Reservoir. The dam at the reservoir is spectacular with the views and you can take a lovely walk along the reservoir. Definitley do that. You will need a Yosemite pass to get to the reservoir as well as into Yosemite Valley. You do not need the pass to get to the hotel. The hotel itself was spectacular. We stayed in a 2-bedroom cabin which was super comfortable. They have a beautiful saltwater pool that is open seasonally with incredible views anytime of day, but specifically at night with the sunset views. There’s so much to do at the lodge, from wandering around the beautiful property, the free s’mores at night, activities all around if you have kids, a recreation center with games and arts and crafts, MX and bocce ball and giant yard chess. It goes on and on. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner and their restaurant. We had breakfast there and it was sooo good. There’s a full tavern too. I think anybody who stays here would absolutely love it. I can’t say enough good things about it.

The only reason we didn't give a 5 star to the room is we are too used to deluxe hotel facilities, our deluxe king bedroom is too rustic to our taste but we understand we are by a national park. We booked 2 nights (Aug 3-5, 26) we ended out leaving after 1 night stay.

We shared a couples glamping tent and loved it. Wished we could have stayed longer! We were initially placed in the tent that was closest to the campfire and bathrooms (even though I had messaged them previously asking for one as far away from them as possible) but the guy on reception changed this for us when checking in and gave us a more private tent. I'd recommend going for the ones as far east as possible away from the car park/bathroom area if you want quietness. We had a lovely view too. Really appreciate the free smores each night, bathrooms were clean and a lot of wildlife around. Pool and hot tub was superb. The tent itself was clean and had everything we needed. On the second night we had a couple next to us being quite loud till late which disturbed our sleep so it might be good for check-in team to state quiet times. We asked for our room to be cleaned twice but it didn't which we found odd. Also the ice machine broke at the campsite and were told we had to pay $7 for a bag of ice by reception which we thought was quite unfair. The lady at the cafe seemed really grumpy. Overall, a good stay and we'd come here again but would like to see some things refined.
