    Easy check-in by showing the Agoda confirmation booking. Guests impressed by receiving the complimentary bag and welcome fruits in room. The shower head was fixed and it's quite difficult for bathing without shower hose. The hotel location was convenient as it's near the Catholic Cathedral by walking distance which served the purpose of this trip. Car parking is available but not seen any security guards at night.

    Overall great experience and great value for the money. Only negative would be perhaps slightly older fixtures in the room we stayed in, the bathtub/ shower specifically required a significant step up and the shower head was a bit low for taller people. Also the bed had a lot of bounce to it and no motion isolation. But room was clean, spacious, and in good condition. We were very happy with our stay at the empress. We expect to stay there on future visits to Chiang mai.

    The only thing good about this hotel was the lovely helpful staff who’d go out of their way to solve any issues, which we had plenty of, unfortunately. The hotel and its infrastructure are so terribly old, needing an urgent renovation if it seriously wants to live up to its star ranking. Many rooms feature old carpet with stale smell. We had to change rooms twice for it. Our final room had an electrical problem on the last night, causing a short and loud popping of a lamp. Breakfast and other meals are definitely not up to the standard. It is not recommended to purchase food here. Not worthy of any hotel with a star ranking. The staff are very friendly, polite, and service minded. Although at time they might seem like having no clue to solve issues. They went out of their way to resolve the problem arising from smelly carpet and electrical issue. For that, huge commendation is deserved. Location is a bit off the main city, but ride hailing is available at a short notice. Many nearby shops and businesses were seen shut down permanently. If they renovate and upgrade their facilities, it would again become great given the service minded people they have.

    I booked two rooms based on customer reviews and Copilot’s recommendation, but my experience didn’t match the positive feedback. The hotel has the potential to be excellent, yet the management doesn’t operate it at the level of a well‑run property. They still use old metal keys, which is fine, but they only provided one key per room. When we entered, my wife immediately noticed an unpleasant smell, including a faint sewer odor coming from the bathroom. The shower’s two‑knob mixing valves were also difficult to use. Breakfast offered many items, but the overall quality was disappointing. The main essentials—fruits, juices, coffee, and tea—were all below expectations. If you want, I can also help you shape this into a formal review, a polite complaint message, or a request for a refund or room change.
