We’ve just returned from our 2nd stay at Eden Roc - we were there 4 years ago, some changes to the pool area have been made since then which are a vast improvement. However, our main issue on our first stay has not been resolved - there is no waiter service for drinks anywhere in the hotel and empty glasses are left unless you take them back yourself, the queues at the beach bar in the day and the main bar in the evening are often 10 deep. The surroundings are fine, the rooms slightly tired but clean although the towels need replacing, definitely well worn and no longer white. The main reason we returned to the hotel was on our first visit all of the a la carte restaurants were excellent and you could visit as many times as you wished within the all inclusive concept, and also if you wanted a starter, then a salad or pasta, then a main course it was no problem, this year you were only allowed one visit to each in a week and told you were only allowed one starter or salad, one main, and one dessert. Also the first time all the a la carte restaurants had a wine list, now it is either the house wine or what they waiter decides. The main buffet restaurant is fine for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was hit and miss, at both lunch and dinner the dessert section was quite predictable - jelly, rather bland chocolate cake and sickly mousses made with synthetic cream. The staff all work very hard but there are just not enough of them, we returned as it was just a quick week away and booking in January we got a good deal, but it is definitely not a 5* hotel and although I would recommend it to anyone wanting a 3/4 * experience, we would not return a third time.

The location is very convenient, with easy access to the town, the old town, the beach, and other areas around the island. Most of the staff were exceptional, particularly Victoria at the information desk and Isabelle from the bar in the evening. However, the rooms and facilities do not reflect a 5-star standard. Sun beds are overcrowded. Some à la carte restaurants, such as the teppanyaki and Arun, are quite good although the Mediterranean restaurant feels somewhat overdone. The buffet also needs improvement, especially the vegetables and fruit selection. They do not look very appealing and not fresh at all. The adult entertainment could be improved. Overall, the hotel feels more like a 4-star property rather than a 5-star one.
