Daytona Grande Oceanfront Resort

The facility and stuff was great. The only thing I don't agree with is the valet parking. If you park your vehicle yourself, it's $28 a night, but if you let them park it, it's $40 a night. I wish they included that in the price when you booked the resort.

Had the best weekend getaway at Daytona Grande ! The hotel was very clean and was in a perfect location for families with kids !!

Firstly, I booked an Ocean view; however, when I got to my room, it was a partial ocean view. I went downstairs for clarification. They explained that their "ocean view" is a partial ocean view, which I said is rather misleading and something I've never seen at other hotels. I asked to be upgraded to what they call Ocean front view, I was not interested in a partial Ocean view. It would not have booked that particular room.. It was my birthday trip, I was trying to make it special. I wasn't upgraded unless I paid the fee (which I did); however, we moved from the 24th floor down to the 11th when we changed rooms, which was disappointing.  On our second day, my birthday, we had an issue with the toilet at about 7a morning, it would not flush, the tank was empty and had no water to flush. The maintenance man came up, said it was a valve, and that he had to get the part. When he returned, he said the toilet was suddenly working again and told me to let him know if I had any problems. Later that evening when I'm trying to take a shower after the beach and get ready for a birthday dinner, the toilet is not working again and they sent up a housekeeper with a plunger, which took quite a while. Meanwhile, I was waiting to shower. I called the front desk again to tell them it wasn't clogged; it was the same valve issue from the morning, no water in the tank. The front desk woman said maintenance staff was gone for the day. So, I asked do we need to move then bc I need a working toilet and I need to shower and get ready to go out for my birthday dinner. What room am I moving to? She said, "Let me look and call you back," but she never called me back. Shortly after, a man came up and said he temporarily fixed the toilet but the needed part wouldn't be there till tomorrow.  Aside from the toilet fiasco and the room confusion, I then noticed on my third visit to the restaurant or bar that an 18% gratuity was already added automatically to our bills. I didn't know this because there was a tip line, and I added an additional 20%, Nowhere on the menu or in the check-in information did it state that this was already included. So, I inadvertently tipped 38% on 2 checks.  The location is nice. The hotel is decorated well. Some of the bartending staff were great, aka Joe. Overall, sadly, I'm not sure if I would return to this place because the front desk staff were difficult to work with, rather unapoligetic and not very accomidating.  I called to complain about my final charges after checkout because their internet wasn't working for me to check out, so they said they would email the bill to me. The front desk lady said she would look into removing one of the resort fees due to my toilet issues and the hassle on my birthday; however, the fee was not removed. When I called to discuss the bill, she said the woman I spoke to yesterday made a note stating I refused to move. That is an absolute lie and makes no sense because she told me there was no maintenance staff available, meaning I would not have a working toilet fo the rest of my stay, so obviously I would have to move. Yes, I commented that moving would be inconvenient bc of the time it would take to pack and unpack again, and that I was trying to go out and get ready for my birthday, but obviously, I need a toilet, and she never called me back like she said she would to tell me which room to move to.  I would look for elsewhere if considering this hotel for the various issues.
