County Lodge Motel

The manager was rude, payment was taken a day prior to our arrival, upon arrival manager demanded payment again, luckily I had receipt of payment (I was not paying again) bugs in the bathroom, spider webs on the ceilings, chain lock on door rusted and broken, the manager let himself inside while we were still in bed!!! No apologies, there was coffee splashes on top of the fridge, the smell of sewerage came up the drain in the shower when showering and the towels had a smell to them. Overall, definitely not worth***

A very comfy bed, great shower and warm room. What more do you need for a good sleep.

This properties home page photo is of a fenced pool & it has the pool listed as one of it's facilities, yet when arriving at the property there is no pool. It had been removed & filled in.

I have needed to think how to complete this review as I have stayed at the motel several times now. Each time I have provided constructive feedback and I can see slight improvements each time. I note the swimming pool is still in the add - this went some years ago. It appears my experiences has highlighted the need for the licensing and production and of an Industry Best Practice for property/establishment whose main income is from providing accommodation. Along with a formal auditing process for compliance to the practice document. The night I arrived the water was cold by 7pm and was hot again by 10pm. The carpet had not been vacuumed as there was sharp gravel left on the carpet, Although booked in as a couple only one towel was on the bed. It is very cold in West Wylong, the old noisy through-wall AC unit had trouble warming the room. The wall mounted IR heater was required. The manager did speak to me the following morning about the water and said that all the people on that side of the building must have had showers at the same time. I would assume with a motel this would be the case almost every day especially with tradies in the rooms. Thinking about the issues I myself identify over the period of several years would definitely be noticed by others. I stopped reading the feedback about this place as I like to give people a fair go. But now with this going for so long I am concerned that visitors would see it as a reflection of West Wylong itself and I hope not. Where is the local Chamber of Commence to help address this issue let along local council. Perhaps Council could offer some form of training in case motel management in the area does not understand what is expected by visitors to the region to help bolster tourism. I understand there is a need for profit and those of us who pay for a room expect some form of value for our money. I once again provide feedback and I'm hoping that it will be considered.
