Clarendon Hotel

I made my booking very last minute, the reception lady was very welcoming and attended to my needs. Facility wise a bit old but the hotel made me feel like home.

Easy after hours entry and exit Light rail right outside which takes you up too the beach or down to the train station to Sydney and Huntervalley

We booked two rooms to go to a family gathering in town. The rooms were spacious and clean and hotel was central. My mother is frail and has limited mobility. The staff were incredible - Steph, Lou and Brock - went above and beyond to assist with my mum's access and parking needs - I'm so grateful! I would happily recommend the Clarendon :)

Whilst the reception staff were welcoming and friendly, the room was reasonably clean, the hotel was dated, the hallways smelled musty, the food was way overpriced, and we had to pick it up ourselves, and our bed was tucked in a tiny second room where we could not feel the air conditioner, so we were really hoy in one room and freezing in the other. There was no late complimentary check-out, or going a bit above and beyond to accommodate guests and their needs, to make up for the lack of housekeeping, or upkeep of the establishment. Check-in was later than requested or expected, with nowhere except a stairwell to store our luggage while we waited for our room to be ready, and no proper reception area, just a tiny desk attached to the back of the bar, which did not always have someone available to assist like most hotels. I had to provide my bankcard details 3 times on the first day then again on days 2 and 3. If this was a 3 star hotel, my review would have been positive, but it is rated much higher, but sadly does not meet the standards across the board and is nowhere of the same high quality as the Best Western we stayed at for less money on other nights of our holiday in Newcastle.
