So it was a no effort put in to making the booking. Booking was made because of price and location. It appears to be a residential apartment stripped back and paper thin partitions as rooms. The idea of sharing bathrooms I never heard of before. So it was my fault I didn’t look properly but I would put it in the ‘Hotel’ category, more like a ‘hostel’

This is not a hotel, there’s no reception at the bottom, a guy comes out on the street and he takes you to his apartment in the building. There were 5 rooms in his apartment with some scary people in some of the rooms. At one point a guy weed in the bathroom sink ! With the door open. Kitchen had NO utensils only 1 small plastic bowl & it was dirty ! Dust everywhere & you have to bring a lighter to start the oven. We had to eat out of the pot ! And I didn’t dare to cook or eat in the kitchen again after seeing the state it was in. We were in a room right next to the washing machine it was really loud people using it till late. The rooms had patched up holes and was very unpleasant and run down. We spent *** for 2 nights it was not worth that !! We stayed at a really fancy place for that price the night before. This is worst then a hostel as he lets scary people live in the rooms next to you. Others that live in the apartments next to him in the building are very loud and strange aswell. I wouldn’t stay again & couldn’t wait to leave. Apart from that he was really nice & beds were comfy. But very unsafe.

Wow , seriously what a great find in the heart of King St & Melbourne CBD. This is what you call bang for your buck & how much fun is it to go back to basics ,who needs all the bells and whistles every time ?? This hotel offers, safe , fun , clean & quirky accommodation that can save you alot of money compared to others in the area. BUT , you need to be realistic and take some responsibly here , if things are not perfect that’s because you are not paying for that , so get over whinging and complaining, lap up the location , and the comfy beds and pillows , make your own coffee & some meals in the well equiped kitchen , give the benches a wipe down if you think it’s not clean enough , speak to the other guests around you , learn about other cultures and hear their stories and soon you may find out how lucky we are in Australia and I’m sure that bit of dust ,on the lamp shade or how you couldn’t find the foyer, immediately or the squeaky door will all be irrelevant in the scheme of things which will allow you to enjoy all the great things this hotel has to offer .. If you are high maintenance go to the other hotels that offer all the bells and whistles, coz things won’t be 100% there either. ..In conclusion I had the most rewarding and back to basics stay at City Lifestyle over the 2 nights . I met some lovely people and had the best sleep both nights & right in the heart of Melbourne. I walked out of the building and bang I was amongst it. I will be back for sure more spending money for me.. .

I made the booking at the last minute. When I was asked for a deposit that would be refundable, I had reservations about giving extra money via payID, but the refund came through to my account the same way. It's a good place to stay, close to the railway station and within the CBD. It rocks all the boxes.
