    I had a pleasant 3-night stay at Citadines. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a good variety of local dishes and freshly made omelettes. The air-conditioning worked very well, which was a relief in Penang’s hot weather. However, the in-room fridge did not keep items as cold as expected, so a 1.5L bottle of 7-Up I purchased from Gama Supermarket was not as chilled as I would have liked. Two pillows were provided per bed, which was generous, though I found them not entirely to my preference in terms of comfort. Overall, it was a good stay with a great location, strong air-conditioning, and an enjoyable breakfast.

    formally voice my profound dissatisfaction regarding the unacceptable service, room upkeep, and food quality during my recent stay at your property. As a hotel located in George Town, Penang—a region world-famous for its rich culinary heritage and warm culture—the experience delivered fell drastically below standard hospitality norms. ​Demoralized Staff & Lack of Basic Hospitality Basic greeting and a welcoming demeanor are foundational across all hotel departments. Throughout my stay, your staff appeared visibly exhausted, unenergized, and entirely disengaged. Not a single smile or basic greeting was offered. It is glaringly evident that your team is suffering from severe burnout or high turnover, which is actively destroying service quality and guest experience. ​Neglected Room Maintenance The lack of operational oversight extends directly into guest accommodations. The bathroom basin in my room was completely choked, resulting in extremely slow water drainage. Basic maintenance checks are clearly being bypassed before assigning rooms to guests. ​Abysmal Breakfast & Culinary Leadership Failure Most egregiously, the breakfast offering was completely unacceptable. The food was entirely tasteless, lacking basic seasoning and quality. After two consecutive mornings of inedible meals, I stopped eating breakfast at the hotel altogether. Operating in Penang and failing to serve even a decent, properly seasoned Maggi Goreng points to severe negligence in the kitchen. It appears your Head Chef is completely disengaged and failing to enforce standard quality control. ​I strongly urge you to personally investigate these operational failures. Staffing conditions require immediate attention, routine maintenance must be restored, and culinary leadership must be held accountable. I expect a prompt response detailing how management intends to address these issues.
