The Chi, formerly The Lanna, maintains its sleek architecture - grounds, pool, building, and interiors have been well maintained. Staff are very nice and clearly want to be helpful. As always, pool is great and gym is good. Breakfast is substantial with many choices. Hotel is a bit isolated but within easy walking distance to the beach and services. Cons: - bathroom sinks sometimes have that common Thai sewer odor - beds are hard…BUT they will provide a mattress topper that softens the mattress a little - there aren’t places in the bathroom to hang hand towels and only one small bar for bath towels - the restaurant, which opens up to the whole pool and U shaped design of the building, plays pop music way too loud during the day and well into the evening. Morning music is very pleasant and not too loud. Day and evening loud music does not give off a ‘Chi’ vibe and seems out of sync with what the hotel appears to try to “be” (Zen-like). The hotel is not a “party hotel” or beach club so the type of music and volume is very off putting. It’s irritating enough to me that this, my seventh stay here, will likely be my last. Nevertheless, Chi is a nice hotel and would likely be a positive enough experience for most short-term travelers.

Everything about my stay here was amazing and the staff were very kind and helpful. The resort is beautifully maintained, the facilities are great and I had a wonderful stay.

While this resort has potential, several major maintenance and comfort issues held it back from being a great stay. The biggest downside was the bed, which was incredibly hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's rest. Outdoors, the pool water clearly wasn’t being properly treated, leaving it looking visibly unclean. Additionally, the grounds need much better upkeep, the gardens were poorly maintained, which unfortunately led to a noticeable cockroach problem around the property.
