Buena Casa Hotel

This is a terrible place that started rumors about me last year.

This hotel is in a very good location at Southern end of the boardwalk., breakfast was good and complementary the room is spacious. They have HBO and Wi-Fi.. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Everytime we stay here, its always nice and clean. Great location. Staff is friendly, and the price is good.

We stayed at this hotel for about 10 months, so this review is based on our experience as long-term guests. Unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing, especially when it came to the hotel’s pet policy and how our concerns were handled. When we first arrived, we understood the hotel to be pet-friendly because we saw more than three dogs staying long-term on the first floor. Because of this, we assumed that having our cats would also be possible, especially since we were willing to pay an additional pet fee. We later asked if we could move to a larger room with a terrace because the room we were staying in was quite small for us and our cats. We were initially told that the request would need to be discussed with the owner, and it took several days before we received an answer. We were eventually told by the manager that we could not transfer to a larger room because we had already stayed in our current room for several days and changing the booking would be difficult. As a result, we had to continue staying in the smaller room with our cats. We were eventually informed that only one cat would be allowed. We were also told that there had been concerns about an odor coming from our room. We cleaned regularly and did our best to keep the room clean and comfortable. What was difficult for us to understand was that there were also noticeable pet odors coming from the first-floor hallway where more than three dogs were staying, but we never complained about this because we understood that pets can sometimes have an odor. We simply accepted it as part of staying in a "pet-friendly environment." We eventually moved our cats to a separate pet hotel in order to cooperate with the hotel’s requirements. After our cats had been moved, an air freshener was placed directly outside our room. We were uncomfortable with this and would have preferred a direct and private conversation if there were still concerns about our room. There were also other things we tolerated during our long stay without making complaints. Since the hotel was undergoing renovation, there was frequent drilling and construction noise. At times, we could also smell paint coming from the fourth floor down into our bathroom. We understood that renovations are sometimes necessary, so we tried to be patient and did not make an issue out of it. For us, the main problem was not any single inconvenience. It was the feeling that we had been accommodating and understanding throughout our long stay, but when it came to the pet situation, the rules and concerns did not feel consistent. We would have appreciated clearer communication about the pet policy from the beginning. Our experience with the manager was also disappointing. During our nearly year-long stay, we did not feel particularly welcomed or acknowledged by her. We understand that everyone has a different personality and management style, but we would have appreciated a more welcoming and approachable attitude toward long-term guests. In the end, we decided to leave. We completely understand that hotels can have rules and restrictions regarding pets, including limits on the number of pets allowed. Our concern is that these rules should be clearly communicated from the beginning and applied consistently. If you are planning a long-term stay here, especially if you are traveling with multiple pets, I recommend confirming the pet policy in detail before booking, including how many pets are allowed and whether additional fees or restrictions apply. This review is based on our personal experience during our approximately 10-month stay. We tried to be understanding about the renovations, the noise, the pet odors in the hallway, and other inconveniences during our stay. Unfortunately, the way the pet situation was handled was the point where we felt we had enough and decided not to return.
