    The building and architecture are beautiful, and the resort has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, our overall experience did not live up to expectations, especially considering the price we paid. Most of the common and lounging areas are outdoors and not air-conditioned. During the day, we noticed that the fans were not even switched on, making it quite uncomfortable to spend time in these areas. Our check-in experience was also disappointing. Our room was not ready, and one of the front desk staff informed us that we had to wait another one and a half hours. For a resort charging RM1,500 for two nights, this was quite unacceptable and certainly not the arrival experience we expected. The welcoming drinks were another concern. There didn't seem to be proper hygiene or monitoring around the drink station. Nobody was around to replace used cups or provide fresh ones. Guests were simply leaving their used cups at the station, making it difficult to distinguish between clean and previously used cups. The room itself was nice, but unfortunately, the cleanliness was below expectations. Upon checking in, we found crumbs and leftover amenities from previous guests. This was particularly disappointing because cleanliness should be a basic standard, especially for a resort in this price category. Breakfast was also below average. We had heard good things about Menate in Penang, so naturally, we had higher expectations. Unfortunately, it did not meet them. We also visited the restaurant during lunch, and the cleanliness was quite disappointing. Tables and chairs were not properly wiped, food crumbs were everywhere, and we actually had to move from one place to another because of the condition of the seating areas. One positive experience, however, was Chef Wan, one of the franchise restaurants at the resort. We really enjoyed the food. The prices were reasonable, portions were generous, and the food was delicious. Overall, we paid approximately RM1,500 for two nights in a king room without a balcony or any particularly special room features. At this price point, we expected a much stronger 5-star experience in terms of service, cleanliness, facilities and breakfast. Penang has quite a few 5-star hotels offering better facilities, breakfast and room experiences at a lower price. While Bertam Resort's architecture is impressive, the overall experience simply did not justify the amount we paid. Unfortunately, we left feeling that the resort had great potential but fell short in delivering the level of hospitality and experience expected of a 5-star property.

    Everything was good except for breakfast. I didn't eat much, I only had nasi lemak. I'm not sure if the chef is Malaysian or not, but the taste was quite disappointing. I wasn't expecting the best nasi lemak, but it could be improved.
