Absolutely. I’d go with affectionately honest rather than TripAdvisor war crime. 😆
Stayed at The Australia Hotel while I was in Fremantle and, honestly, it was exactly the weird little chapter of life I needed. 😂
This is NOT a shiny five-star hotel where someone fluffs your pillow and leaves a chocolate on it. It’s an old heritage pub/hotel with loads of character, slightly wonky old-building charm, and the occasional moment where you think, “Well, this place has definitely seen some things.”
My room was clean, the bed was ridiculously comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked most of the time and most importantly, I felt safe and completely at home there. For the price, I genuinely couldn’t complain.
It’s a little rough around the edges, but that’s half the charm. If you want polished luxury, probably keep scrolling. If you want somewhere affordable, friendly, full of personality and with an actual soul, this place delivers. Take your own coffee.
I arrived there during a fairly chaotic period of my life and somehow ended up becoming very fond of the place and the people in it. It became my little Fremantle sanctuary.
Would I stay again? Absolutely.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for comfort, character and giving me somewhere to hide from adulthood for a while. 😂

Keep in mind this is a budget level accommodation. A bed in a room and shared bathroom facilities. It’s above a pub/restaurant and walking distance to everything. So ,if you are looking for a simple place to rest your head for a night or two go for it! I am a female traveller on my own . I felt safe enough. The staff were helpful as well.

Not value for money. The staff seemed to have little idea of what they were doing, and the overall experience was disappointing. I paid $150 for a single room, yet even the room light did not work. The reception staff were also quite clueless and unable to provide effective assistance. I would recommend staying away from this place.
