The Athabasca Hotel is an iconic feature of Jasper. It still possesses the old world charm and the modern amenities are subtle. The bed was incredibly comfortable and while it was a new experience to share a communal bathroom in the hall, everything was very clean and tidy avd there was no issues when accessing the facilities. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. They worked ensured all of my needs were met. I highly recommend this hotel to other travellers and will definitely stay there again.

I stayed for 1 night in a small room with a queen bed with a shared bathroom right across the hallway. The hotel has a certain aesthetic that lends to the atmosphere of this place. It's definitely unique. The room was quaint, comfy, clean and convenient and we did not really need to stay in the room except getting 1 nights of good sleep. Parking at the back was close and convenient that it was free. Everything in the town is within walking distance of this place. Due the fact it was still in shoulder season, there was no issues with using the shared bathroom (which has 1 toilet, 1 sink, and one bathtub with shower head). The bathrooms were kept very clean, even though they are shared. There's only a single bathroom per floor if you are staying in these types of rooms that have the shared bathroom. So it's important to plan your bathroom times so that it's at a less busy time if you staying in a busy season. The other important aspect of this type of older building is that the walls are pretty thin, so if the person next door is talking loud, you can hear their conversation easily. The only other big concern for this place is that there isn't an elevator, so if you have a lot of luggage, you will need to be able to carry it up and down the stairs on your own. All the staff I met were very friendly. I travelled with my son and there wasn't any problems that he had, but it may not be as young family friendly due to the lack of elevators and the bar/restaurant/casino not allowing minors. For seniors, there can be accessibility concerns due to lack of elevators and ramps into the building (both front and back).
