Modern, comfortable lodging at a bargain price, especially considering the delicious free breakfast. Relaxing surroundings on the beach or by the pool, magnificent sunsets. Extensive food and bar menu, expertly crafted. Scuba diving and island hoping available. Friendly staff. No wonder we keep coming back.

Our choice for lodging in Bulata

The resort was a very nice and secluded location for a few days. We would love to stay longer and hope to return soon. The pool, food, bar, room and staff were all excellent.

As a well-traveled couple who has stayed at numerous boutique resorts across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the US, we know what to expect from a property in this category. We were looking forward to a relaxing long weekend at this resort, drawn by its intimate and cozy boutique appeal. While the property itself delivers on charm, the restaurant and overall management fell far short of basic standards, ultimately causing us to cut our stay short. The Good: 
The resort truly is cozy and well-designed. The rooms, ambiance, and peaceful setting matched the boutique vibe we were hoping for — comfortable, stylish, and relaxing. The Bad (and Why We Left Early):
 The dining experience, however, was consistently poor and unacceptable, especially for a boutique resort. On Friday afternoon, we arrived just after 4:30 PM and placed our order around 5 PM. We waited over an hour, finally being served at around 6:30 PM. No expectation setting by the server for how long the food is going to get served so I followed up after waiting for over an hour. The staff said it takes very long for them to send out food because it is prepped and cooked fresh which we understood and waited patiently for. But when the shrimp linguine carbonara (their "daily special") arrived the shrimp had rotten smell, were gray-looking and were clearly spoilt. The taste and smell were so off-putting that it was inedible. Hoping it was just an off night, we gave grace to the situation thinking it might get better. But as soon as the next day during breakfast, we were served spoiled, sour milk for our coffee. It curdled immediately in the cup, looked disgusting, and smelled even worse. (See photo of the curdled milk as proof.) We asked to speak with the owner, Tobias, and shared our experience since checking in. He personally tasted the spoiled milk, as did the server, and confirmed the issue. Rather than seeing real accountability, we only heard excuses from the staff. Tobias offered an apology, but after two consecutive terrible meals, it felt too little, too late. As seasoned travelers, we’ve encountered occasional hiccups before, but repeated lapses in BASIC food quality control and staff training like this are a major concern for travellers. It was clear the kitchen and service team were not properly managed or trained. Compounding the problem is the resort’s strict “No Outside Food and Drinks” policy. Normally we would respect and understand such a rule — if the resort’s own food and drinks were at least not spoilt and of acceptable quality. But being forced to rely solely on their substandard kitchen, with no option to bring in alternatives, made the situation intolerable. Because of these ongoing issues, we packed up and left Sunday morning instead of staying until Monday. We simply didn’t feel comfortable continuing our stay. Final Verdict:
 This resort has real potential with its cozy boutique charm, but the restaurant is a major liability. We can say the food and service standards here do not match the price or expectations. You can book if you plan to eat elsewhere or are mainly after a nice place to sleep, but be very wary. Significant improvements in kitchen management, staff training, and quality control would significantly improve the stay here.
