Amihan Beach Cabanas Resort

I want to start by saying Aleeysa was amazing and she is the reason for a staff positive rating! We showed up about an hour early and were told our room wasn't ready yet, but we could check in early for 1000 pesos, or wait at the bar. No worries, area was beautiful, time to relax. Then, after our check in time, had to go ask if our room was ready. Upon check in, there was no internet/wifi, no TV, and told there was nothing that could be done. Not a great start to our honeymoon stay. Then Aleeysa showed up. She did everything she could to help with the shortcomings in our room, but it wasn't working. After that, she was able to switch our room, one that had everything advertised and was amazing in her effort. The rest of our stay was saved, and if we needed anything, we waited for her to come in for her shift. She is a blessing and management should do everything they can do to keep her. I booked a very big room for four person even though I travel alone with my 2 kids. The first night we heard same strange noises and thought it was a bird. They check and assure everything was ok. The following day we heard again some strange noises and the kids saw a mouse. They didn't have ony other free room so they proposed us to go to another of their partner hotel. Since I don't like it (it was not comparable) I asked to go to another close hotel. I had to pay that night. Moreover they moved us to a little room from the day after, and any compensation for the different room wasn't considered (Remember I bought a 4 person house with 2 rooms -1 king bed AND 2 single beds- and we were moved in a room with a queen bed and a small bed). What we could have is be refud for the night we had to spend in the other hotel because they don't have room and the last night since We decided to leave one day before we were supposed to. To compensate they offer the transfer to the port. We went from the port to the hotel by foot sonce it is 1 km distant. Except for that it was a wonderful place. Good food and kind waitress

Location: Excellent. Walking distance to plenty of stores, ATMs, and food spots, and just a few minutes from the port. Staff: Very friendly, accommodating, and well-trained when it comes to attending to guests’ needs. Communication could still improve, though. Restaurant: Easily one of the highlights. The food was SO good. everything we ordered was chef’s kiss. Beach & Amenities: If your main goal is to relax on a nice sandy beach, this probably isn’t the resort for you. The beachfront is mostly rocky and doesn’t have much of a walkable sandy shoreline. For that experience, I’d recommend Kota Beach instead. There is a pool, but it’s very small more like a large jacuzzi for dipping than an actual swimming pool. Aside from the massage area and that there aren’t many other amenities. Room: Before I get hate for this, please understand that I’m comparing Amihan with other resorts I’ve stayed at within a similar price range. I stayed at Hillside Resort in Siargao for only around 60–70% of Amihan’s price, and the room was WAAAAAY better. Both have a similar native/natural concept, but Amihan’s room simply didn’t feel or look like its price point. The interior is quite basic and dim. The bed is comfortable enough, but nothing about the room really feels luxurious. The bathroom also wasn’t very ergonomic or comfortable. the shower head felt cheap, and the mirror was positioned unusually high and far away. Like several properties on the island, the tap water is also saline. There were also a lot of mosquitoes inside the room. I’m not sure how the resort can address this given the environment, but it’s definitely worth noting for future guests. Overall, the room is decent enough, but it’s not the kind of room you’re excited to come back to after a long day just to relax and enjoy the space. Overall: The location is excellent, the staff are lovely, and the restaurant is genuinely one of the best parts of the stay. But when I consider the room, beachfront, small pool, and limited amenities against what we paid, I simply don’t think Amihan is worth the price. It’s not a bad resort at all. The problem is that at this price point, I expected considerably more.

We visited their restaurant last year to dine based on some great reviews we've read. Their food did not disappoint then, and it still doesn't today. Their beachfront was also great, just a few steps away from the restaurant. So we were very excited when we booked their biggest room (family room) for 3 nights. It was quite pricey compared to other resorts in Santa Fe, but we went with them anyway, we trusted the overall exoerience based only on their food. When we got to our room, the floor felt too dusty and running water tasted salty. To our surprise, they had already built some sort of stair-type seawall on their beachfront and the last step was too steep even for an adult so it was no longer an option for us who had a toddler and a 1 yr old. On our first night, we woke up at 4am to some squealing sound that seemed like fighting on the ceiling beam right on top of our bed. My mother-in-law confirmed she saw 2 big rats inside the room. We reported this to the management the next day and asked to be transferred to another room, we didn't even care if it was smaller than what we booked for, not getting our money's worth, as long as we could rest peacefully at night without worrying some rodents crawling over or biting our kids. They were unable to give us another room within the premises because as per their staff, they were fully booked but they instead offered a bare room with just beds at the next, adjacent property far from the facilities. Frustrated and disappointed, we decided to cut our stay short on our second day and moved to another resort with better and cleaner rooms, that cost nearly a third of what we paid in Amihan. We did not receive any refund but instead, they cleared all our food purchases as compensation. We were already so tired and restless, so we thought to just charged it all to experience. We'd rather waste our two remaining nights and spend a bit more on a new accommodation than stay restless and hopefully still save our vacation, which already started with much disappointment. That said, this will be our first and last experience with them and sadly, it was the worst.
