    My husband and I did a mini-honeymoon in Bacharach. The town itself was so great, we were honestly pleasantly surprised. But the hotel itself is what made our stay quite memorable too. Being able to stay in a historic building is impressive on its own, but the staff and overall hospitality we received definitely impressed us the most! Yes, amenities are not on par with what you would "normally" have in more modern hotels, but that adds to the charm. The building itself is the destination. Would recommend getting a room with a balcony. My husband and I spend 60% of our time on the balcony sipping our riesling and people-watching. So if you're looking to wind down and genuinely just laze around on vacation, then Bacharach and the Altkolnischer is the best place. The town is small enough to explore in a day and a half, and the hotel has so much history and is at the heart of the town that staying there makes it worth it. We barely left the room as we wanted to take in as much of the scenery we could!

    Unfortunately, our stay was not the best. The apartment was not the cleanest and had many spiders inside. It was also located directly on a train track so if you wanted to open the windows at night, the noise became unbearably loud. Lovely staff and Bacharach is beautiful but we were disappointed with the hotel especially for the very high price.
