Aloft by Marriott Dhahran

I booked a 1 day staycation with my husband to celebrate his birthday. At the reception, I reiterated the specification I put during booking (last June 2026) which was 1 large bed and room be near the pool side if possible. (While my husband was checking-in, I tried their Arabian coffee, gawa and dates. Dates were good and I complemented the receptionist about it.) When we were able to settle down at our room, we called to request for 1 more pair of hotel slipper since only 1 was provided. There was no answer for our first two calls. And finally, our call was answered. While we were waiting for the requested slippers, a complementary fruit plate was served for my husband for his birthday. Thank you for the sweet gesture, Aloft Hotel! After indulging ourselves with the fruits—honeydew, watermelon, and two types of grapes—we headed to their pool area, which is located on the 10th floor. We went there at around 7 PM since the pool is open to the public from 3 PM until 10 PM (or perhaps 11 PM—I’m not entirely sure). There were only a few swimmers at the time: a father and son, and one other gentleman. The pool isn’t very deep. I think the deepest part is only about 4'7", which I actually enjoyed because I could walk around the entire pool! I’m 5'4" and, by the way, I don’t know how to swim. Haha! There is also a designated area for kids, with a clear demarcation separating it from the main pool. In addition, there’s a small section where they have hot water or steam—I'm not sure what the proper term for it is. It’s located right beside the main pool and can probably accommodate around six people at a time. However, be careful because the water is quite hot! My husband couldn’t tolerate the heat in that small pool. For a while, my husband and I were able to enjoy the pool all by ourselves. Later, a father and his children arrived and enjoyed the kids’ section. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable time at the pool. After more than an hour of swimming, we went back to our room, changed our clothes, had our sumptuous dinner outside the hotel and returned back to hotel to enjoy our time together until the next day. We checked out, almost 12 noon. One thing that somehow disappointed us was the difficulty we had reaching the receptionist. There was no answer during our first two calls, but fortunately, the receptionist answered on our third attempt. On the morning of our check-out, we also tried calling the reception to request an extra laundry bag for our swimwear, but once again, no one answered. We just informed the receptionist about what we still needed when we went downstairs after buying breakfast at McDonald’s. But still, overall, we had a very comfortable stay at the Aloft. I really liked how spacious the room was! I even told my husband that I found the bed exceptionally big compared to the beds in the hotels we had stayed in before. I think our room could comfortably accommodate 4–5 people. The usual amenities were also provided, including slippers, a dental kit, shaving kit, shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel, hair dryer, iron, and a mini refrigerator. They also had complimentary coffee (Nescafé, with an option for decaf), tea, creamer, brown sugar, white sugar, and three bottles of water. The hotel is conveniently located right across from Mall of Dhahran. However, you would need to take a car to get there because there’s no pedestrian crossing or overpass directly across from the hotel. Technically, you can walk, but the scorching heat is definitely your number one enemy, especially since it’s summer in KSA. 😂 Walking might be a better option during winter when the weather is cooler. The hotel is also conveniently situated near several restaurants, coffee shops, and a bakala (mini-mart), so getting food and other essentials is quite easy.

So beautiful

The hotel was not suitable for families and had a strange and unpleasant smell everywhere, including the rooms, elevators, and all common areas. Because of this, we requested to check out and asked for a refund. However, the receptionist was uncooperative and refused to assist us. Until now, the refund has not been processed. I am requesting an immediate refund.
