This is a lovely family run hotel which has the essential ingredient of being attentive to all guests needs. We love coming back here - so central and lovely walks nearby for our Labrador.

Very well presented hotel. Only issue I had were long gaps in attention and service at dinner. From being shown to a table, getting a drink, ages between starter and main course. Wine glass stayed empty for ages after Ist round. The gentleman who attended at breakfast conversely was attentive, quick and well organised.

Arrival was poor, as there was no one on reception and the bell was ignored. I know I was too early for check in but I had driven a long way and just wanted a drink. The room was very dated, which I had expected from others reviews, but the carpet was in a terrible condition. It was especially bad in the bathroom around the toilet. It was badly in need of replacing. Breakfast the first morning was superb, as was the service. The second day they had run out of butter ! The service was very good though and the dining staff were very friendly. I had another issue with reception when I asked about the daily newspaper. I wanted to read a particular article and the evening receptionist was very sarcastic. That was not necessary or appropriate. All in all, it was a very mixed stay. The location was lovely, the decor very shabby and the staff were either excellent or downright rude. I shan’t be returning and it’s not somewhere I would recommend.

Beautiful character property, large comfortable rooms (little tired but stiil lovely), with all amenities and extra touches, eg fruit and home made biscuits provided each day. Homely feel and lovely staff. Extra bonus of an outdoor pool although could do with a bit of a spruce up. We loved our stay here.

Beautiful property in a lovely setting. Room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, with everything you could want. Love the timeless elegance and charm of this place, from the initial greeting that ensures you feel like a valued guest, the wonderful dining experience that makes you feel that you've stepped back in time - no clattery wooden floors here, to the little extra touches like writing paper and envelopes in the room. I love it. Everything a hotel should be.

What a really nice hotel. Location an idyll - sitting next to pond at the front of hotel with glass of wine/beer on nice evening- relaxing. 5 stars. Staff - warm, welcoming, very helpful. (Anthony, Sally, Baba etc...).5 stars. Food great standard again 5 stars. Overall wonderful, quaint, quirky old hotel.

We stayed one night and although the building is lovely the service is terrible. Our room flooded from the above room's shower - the ceiling looked like it was going to fall in and it soaked our clothes. They offered us £25 off a £210 room rate - we'd already paid so couldn't decline to pay. Their response was that it was going to cost them money to repair and repaint so couldn't give us any refund. Awful service would never stay again

Very disappointing. We booked this hotel as it had a swimming pool, which our young grandson was looking forward to using. On arrival we were informed the pool was closed and we told they didn't know when it would be open. i read the reviews and was expecting the hotel to be a little dated, but unfortunately it was quite un-clean. Our room was over the kitchen extractor fan which was very noisy and due to the temperature in the room we were unable to open the window because of the smell from the fan. The whole experience caused us to only stay for one night, not the two we had booked.

This is a very nice hotel,it is a little bit shabby but in a nice way that makes one feel like one is in someone’s large country house. We were upgraded to a large suite which was a very nice gesture. We have stayed at Corse Lawn twice last year and had excellent dinners both times,but oh dear,the dinner this Saturday night was terrible! My Mediterranean fish soup which last time was delicious and fresh made was out of a catering pack, the roast loin of muntjac venison was nothing of the sort;a cheap cut of overcooked and dry meat disguised to look like venison in my opinion,it was inedible and we sent it back.We had heard from a friend that the food quality had gone down,how right they were,to the owner Mrs Hine please dismiss the present incompetent chef,he is destroying your business! Everything else was excellent.

Initially we made a judgement based on the fact the decor was maybe a little old fashioned however this hotel far exceeded our expecatations in terms of how clean it was and all the lovely little touches. Our room was huge and had fresh fruit, homemade shortbread and really decent tea and coffee making facilities. It was also very clean. Overall we were impressed and would stay again.

It was a qaint wuiet country Hotel in a lovely countryside setting. The staff were mainly friendly and welcoming and had a good breakfast menu. We didnt do the evening meal as had a strict dress code. The bedroom was very spacious and i dod like the tea and coffee facilities, unfortunately we never had any fresh fruit in the room and also no milk in the fridge so we had to ask the bar staff. Also unfortunately the swimming pool was out of order which was a shame as we had booked the Hotel especially for that reason, we do hope to come back another time again and hopefully it might be up and running again. The homemade biscuits were nice and tasty so also a big thumbs up for that.

Location and surrounding area was lovely. It’s a beautiful building but definitely needing updating. I had a beautiful room at back of hotel but it had loads of big bulky furniture in it, which actually made it feel cramped. Breakfast felt of poor quality, the sausage and bread/toast being of poor quality/taste. I had planned to swim, but one look at the pool and decided against it, very dated and didn’t look clean. However, that being said the staff were very nice so would consider staying again.

Few odd things these covid days like loose biscuits in a barrel in the room, loose sugar lumps at breakfast that are clearly not disposed of after each customer rather than sachets, and door plates covered in finger prints from a few days worth of hands. Didnt see any staff using sanitiser at any time, but maybe they were discreet. Perhaps im a little OCD with this. Lovely gardens and places to sit and relax and waiter service throughout. Overall a pleasant stay they just need to up their covid game in my opinion.

I could not check in until 3.30pm so they had plenty of time to clean the room. The cups in the room had stains on them, so had to wash them before using, the mirrors were stained and the one in the bathroom had fingerprints on it. Some parts of the property needs some TLC.
